Broadband Fuels Economic Growth

American research has long been the engine for the growth of our nation’s gross domestic product. The YAS Research arm is 40 years old and continues its mission through the University of New Hampshire’s Broadband Center of Excellence (BCoE). That organization is an interdisciplinary academy designed to establish UNH as a global leader in maximizing the effectiveness of broadband technologies on commerce, innovation, competitiveness and quality of life.

Dr. Rouzbeh Yassini authors 2 highly rated “must read” books

Dr. Rouzbeh Yassini, the “father of the cable modem,” has authored two books which follow his journey from his early days as an engineer, to the  development of  the first modem, to his unwavering determination to realize a revolutionary vision which others saw as an impossibility; the delivery of voice and data over ethernet using the cable TV infrastructure. Rouzbeh saw early on the potential of broadband to deliver fast, reliable internet. He also knew broadband was at the center of the information age with the capability to drastically advance education, medicine, science, research, and more.

How did we move from local area networks, to the dial up entry into the world wide web and on to the speed of light delivery of voice and data over the the cable infrastructure. Who were the pioneers and visionaries. What were their hard won victories and exhausting sacrifices on their journey to bring a revolutionary technology to the world and change the world.

A humanized approach to conveying answers to these questions and more are found in “Planet Broadband”.

In Dr. Yassini’s second book, “Accidental Network” soon to be published, readers will enjoy new insights, experiences, and his inspiring commitment to his world vision that developed along the way.
