Cable-Tec Expo 2021 commenced with an inspiring keynote speech delivered by Kevin Hart, EVP and Chief Product and Technology Officer for Cox Communications.

In a responsible response to the ongoing COVID-19 health concerns, Cable-Tec Expo 2021 is once again being held virtually .

Kevin notes the progress of Cable-Tec and honors the innovative technologies that have been brought to market which profoundly impact the way people and institutions communicate with the world.

Kevin quotes C.S. Lewis, “hardships prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destiny” as commentary on how the commitment to innovation and years of preparation by the cable telecommunications industry facilitated success in meeting the challenge to provide essential connectivity to a world in lockdown.

Kevin notes, “tens of millions of customers were able to work and learn from the safety of their homes over the last 18 months. The broadband networks that you design, build, monitor, protect, repair; those networks provided a critical lifeline that kept our economy moving, kept students engaged and kept families connected.”

Three foundational strategies drive the production of the annual Cable-Tec Expo:

  • Meeting the insatiable demand for connectivity
  • Investing for the future
  • Anticipating technology trends.

The mission is accomplished by bringing the collective brainpower of the best minds in the world to the Cable-Tec Expo to envision the future, the customer’s needs and bringing those solutions to them.

Kevin continues by outlining the 2021 content which will support those strategies with a heavy emphasis on the continued need to push broadband, strengthen  technology infrastructure and keep people connected during these unexpected and extreme circumstances.

Throughout his address, Kevin thanks all of the industry leaders for their collaboration, innovative spirit, research and commitment to turning conceptual ideas into a “ future with no limits”.

Kevin concludes by acknowledging and thanking two retiring industry legends, Tony Werner and Pat Esser for their groundbreaking contributions, generosity, leadership and mentorship throughout their illustrious careers.
